Stanley Cup Finals: Wild Night in Game 1

The Philadelphia Flyers will be remembered for as long as sport is played on this earth. The Flyers are only the fourth team in sports history to come back from a 3-0 deficit. They proceeded to blitz the Montreal Canadiens in five games. Nobody expected the Flyers to make it this far especially after drawing a match-up against the number two seed New Jersey Devils in the first round. But the Flyers fell short in Game 1 against the Chicago Blackhawks in a wild night.

Philadelphia Flyers Merchandise – Eastern Conference Champions

Please don’t pretend that you genuinely thought that the Philadelphia Flyers (except for the die-hard Flyers fans) would make it into the Stanley Cup finals. They upset the New Jersey Devils in the first round, pulled off a rare come from behind win against the Boston Bruins and dismantled the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference finals.

Chicago Blackhawks Merchandise – Western Conference Champions

Many weren’t surprised when the Chicago Blackhawks won the Western Conference finals against the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks always seemed to fold under pressure. The Hawks had a fairly easy road to the Stanley Cup finals, and they now hold an obvious advantage of talent over the Philadelphia Flyers.

NHL Conference Finals Preview: Flyers, Blackhawks up 1-0

The Boston Bruins completed the biggest choke job in sports history. Up 3-0 in the series against the Flyers, the Bruins were forced into a do-or-die Game 7. The Bruins were coincidentally up 3-0 in Game 7 before allowing the Flyers to score 4 goals. Philadelphia advanced to the next round to play the 8th-seeded Montreal Candiens, who also completed an upset of their own by beating the defending champs Pittsburgh Penguins. The top two teams in the Western Conference are in the conference finals, the Chicago Blackhawks and the San Jose Sharks. In a twist of fate, the Eastern Conference finals feature the two lowest seeded teams in the Flyers and Canadiens.

NHL Playoffs: Second Round Preview

The first-round of the NHL playoffs is finished, and it has been marred by three upsets, all happening in the West. The Washington Capitals were shocked by the 8th-seeded Montreal Canadiens. Two-time MVP Alex Ovechkin was helpless in preventing the Canadiens from completing a monstrous upset. New Jersey won only one game against the streaking Philadelphia Flyers. And the Bruins put a clamp on the 3rd-seeded Buffalo Sabres.

NHL Merchandise: Gear Up for The Playoffs

NHL Playoff Match-Up Previews

The NHL playoffs have started and are already off to an exciting start. The defending champ Pittsburgh Penguins already dropped a close game to the Ottawa Senators, the 7th seeded Philadelphia Flyers surprised the New Jersey Devils with superb goalie play by Brian Boucher, the Coyotes scored the goal-winning shot in the third period to hold off the Red Wings, and the Avalanche shocked the top-seeded Sharks.
