AFC South – Top Performers

QB Matt Schaub, Houston Texans.Schaub outdueled McNabb in a game that featured both quarterbacks throwing over 400 yards. That’s not the most important thing though? He led the Texans to a late comeback.

WR Mike Sims-Walker, Jacksonville Jaguars. Sims-Walker came back with a vengeance. he caught 10 passes for a total of 105 yards with a touchdown. But the Jaguars lost to a rejuvenated San Diego team.

QB Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts. Copy paste his name for every week. Manning has not been intercepted and totally dismantled the Giants secondary. Big brother Peyton handed little brother Eli a severe spanking.

AFC West – Top Performers

CB Brandon Flowers, Kansas City Chiefs. Flowers interception that led to a touchdown proved to be the difference against the Browns.

WR Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos. What a debut for the rookie. Thomas had eight receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown. He helped the Broncos pick up their first win of the season.

QB Bruce Gradkowski, Oakland Raiders. Oakland fans have spoken — they want Gradkowski to start instead of offseason acquisition Jason Campbell. He came in for Campbell against the Rams and finished 11 of 22 for 162 yards with a touchdown. This week he’ll be playing for job security.

RB Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders. McFadden had his second straight good game. He rushed for 145 yards. He’s providing the Raiders with a reliable source of offense.

San Diego’ D. The Chargers forced six turnovers which led to 17 points. All those opportunities must be keeping Philip Rivers happy. He is not without fault though. He turned the ball over two times.

<img src="http://view4.picapp.com/pictures.photo/image/9748138/indianapolis-colts-houston/indianapolis-colts-houston.jpg?size=380&imageId=9748138" border="0" alt="HOUSTON - SEPTEMBER 12: Running back Arian Foster of the Houston Texans avoids a tackle by defensive back Melivn Bullitt of the Indianapolis Colts during the NFL season opener at Reliant Stadium on September 12, 2010 in Houston, Texas.
AFC South

RB Arian Foster, Houston Texans. The Texans surprised the Colts in Week 1 and exposed Indianapolis’ weak run defense. Foster rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Apparently, no one on the Colts got the memo to try and tackle the Foster.

RB Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans. Chris Johnson didn’t disappoint the fantasy leaguers who drafted him. He looked great against the Raiders, then again who doesn’t. Still, he was impressive as he ran for a 76-yard touchdown. He finished with 142 yards and two touchdowns.

QB David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars. He put up big numbers that are sure to put Tim Tebow out of the minds of Jacksonville locals for a while. Garrard, in probably his last chance to be a starter in the league, threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Denver‘s highly regarded defense was torn to shreds.

WR Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville Jaguars. He didn’t put up big numbers but he found the end zone twice.

QB Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts. Manning had another flawless performance. Too bad his defense wasted his staline: 433 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

AFC North

LB Derrick Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs. Johnson had 12 tackles including a massive hit on rookie RB Ryan Mathews that caused a fumble. The Chiefs recovered the ball and it led to a touchdown. Welcome to the NFL, rook.

RB Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs. He rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown. If that wasn’t impressive enough consider the 8.4 yards he averaged per carry against the Chargers.

RB Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders. He was the lone bright spot for the forever-struggling Raiders. He had 150 all-purpose yards, 95 rushing and 55 on receptions. He managed to score the only touchdown for Oakland.

First, here are some teams to watch in the AFC division. One team that you will likely see in the postseason is the Indianapolis Colts. With Peyton Manning, one of the best quarterbacks to play the game, the Colts have a good shot of getting to the Super Bowl for a second straight year.

Despite a disappointing end to last year, I think the San Diego Chargers will have a great season this year. It won’t be the same without running back LaDainian Tomlinson, but rookie Ryan Matthews is sure to be a good replacement at the RB position.

Another team that I think could be a huge threat this year is the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have acquired some great receivers during the offseason such as Anquan Boldin and T.J. Houshmandzadeh which will create good weapons for the rising star, Joe Flacco.

I’m thinking the New York Jets are likely to win the AFC East and have a great season with their outstanding defense, but I doubt they will make it as far in the playoffs as last year unless quarterback Mark Sanchez can step it up this season.

There are a lot of great teams in the AFC, but I think the Colts will be the team to make it to the Super Bowl.

Next is the NFC, which I honestly don’t think is as strong as the AFC. The defending champs should easily make the playoffs again with Drew Brees and their great offense, though I don’t see the New Orleans Saints making another Super Bowl run.

The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of talent on their team, but they have to stay consistent to have any hopes of playing at their stadium for the Super Bowl.

Another team with a lot of talent that has a good shot at the Super Bowl is the Green Bay Packers. Overall they have a great offense and defense that could win them the division.

After the retirement of Kurt Warner, I don’t look at any of the teams in the NFC West as being that good, but I predict that the San Francisco 49ers will be able to win it and go to the playoffs.

The team to beat in the NFC is sure to be the Packers, and I’m thinking that they will be going the Super Bowl to take on the Colts

Colts vs Packers in the Super Bowl is my prediction. Aaron Rodgers and the Packs are going to be a great team, but I think Peyton is going to lead the Colts to victory and get his second ring after a not so great ending last year in the Super Bowl.

This NFL season is going to be very exciting so don’t forget to gear up for it by getting NFL merchandise for your favorite team. NFL merchandise brings a fun and colorful atmosphere to your home while you’re cheering on your favorite team!

It was one call – one gutsy call – that swung the momentum in favor of the New Orleans Saints. No, it was not a highlight reel run or a downfield bomb. It wasn’t even a field goal kick similar to those kicked by Adam Vinatieri that won two Super Bowls for the Patriots – it was a recovered onside kick. It was the very first play coming out of halftime. How’s that for gutsy?

The Saints were down 10-6 coming out of halftime and its seemingly unstoppable offense had stalled. Enter Sean Payton and rookie kicker Thomas Morstead. Morstead kicked a perfect “looper” that Colts’ reserve receiver Hank Baskett couldn’t handle. Baskett was caught off guard, which led to Saints’ safety Chris Reis’ recovery of the football.

The onside kick effectively shifted the momentum in the Saints favor. Sure, the Colts still scored seven points in the third quarter after a routine drive by Peyton Manning, but the onside kick jumpstarted the Saints offense. It was there that the Saints never looked back. After Matt Stover missed a field goal late in the third quarter, the Saints had regained their composure and luster.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the Colts couldn’t prevent the Saints’ offense from kicking into high gear. Drew Brees threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey and completed a two-point conversion attempt that put the Saints up by a touchdown.

You couldn’t blame the Who Dat? Nation for being a little antsy when four-time MVP Peyton Manning took the field with four minutes left and the Saints only up by a score. You know the drill – the Colts down, Manning leads his team down the field for the win.

This time it was different. It was destiny and no one, even Manning, could prevent destiny. In one quick swoop cornerback Tracy Porter snatched a Manning pass and returned it for a 74-yard touchdown return.

There would be no come-from-behind drives for Manning. The night belonged to the Saints. New Orleans’ head coach Sean Payton took a gamble and it paid off. It changed the whole tone of the game.

No longer were people asking, “Who Dat!?”. No more questions on who deserved it more because it was the Saints who won Super Bowl XLIV – “Dat Who!”

The Colts are looking for win number two under new head coach Jim Caldwell. A win tonight would also give Peyton Manning his 119th victory, breaking his current tie with Johnny Unitas for the franchise record.

The Dolphins are hoping to make a better showing than they did last week when they struggled to find their offense against the Falcons. This is their first Monday Night Football game since Christmas of 2006.
