The playoff match-ups are set. This means no more lackluster defense, no easy baskets, no taking games off and more importantly no more excuses. How will the Lakers fare after struggling late in the season? Will LeBron finally get his first ring? Do the Celtics have enough left for another title run? Will it be Brandon Jennings’ or Kevin Durant’s coming out party? So many questions surrounding the NBA playoffs.
The NHL playoffs have started and are already off to an exciting start. The defending champ Pittsburgh Penguins already dropped a close game to the Ottawa Senators, the 7th seeded Philadelphia Flyers surprised the New Jersey Devils with superb goalie play by Brian Boucher, the Coyotes scored the goal-winning shot in the third period to hold off the Red Wings, and the Avalanche shocked the top-seeded Sharks.
Led by Coach Mike Krzyzewski, the Duke Blue Devils escaped the Butler Bulldogs and won their fourth NCAA tournament championship. Butler’s Gordon Hayward was held to a mere 12 points after averaging 16 points throughout the tourney. Kyle Singler and Jon Scheyer combined for 34 points to lead Duke. It was a great tournament run for Butler, but it simply wasn’t their night.
